Buy a cheap suit
You can purchase a 3-piece suit quite affordably, as long as you consider the things I've described above. Good luck with your search for your new 3-piece suit. Looking for an inexpensive suit? Take a look in our shop.
Did you know that a cheap suit can be just as comfortable as an expensive 3-piece suit? Often, cheaper fabrics are used in affordable models compared to the more expensive ones. Does that make a cheap suit inferior? No, I don't think so. After all, it's about how comfortable it feels and whether you actually wear it. In my opinion, every man should have a 3-piece suit in their wardrobe. But I also understand that a custom-made suit may not be within everyone's reach. Fortunately, affordable, good-looking 3-piece suits are popping up like mushrooms. This means that you can still score a relatively good 3-piece suit for less money. I just wouldn't recommend grabbing the first suit off the shelves because I'd like to give you some tips to give your 3-piece suit a more luxurious appearance.
Which fabric suits a good and inexpensive suit?
Wool is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you want to buy a 3-piece suit. Wool feels comfortable and breathes. But nowadays, there are good alternatives to wool. You can buy beautiful men's suits made of polyester combined with wool. We have many suits with a combination of 70% polyester and 30% wool, which is a perfect combo for an affordable and beautiful suit. Did you know that linen or a blend with silk, for example, is a great alternative for summer? That's why it's important not to rely on your feelings when buying a 3-piece suit but simply check the label and see what the suit is made of. You're allowed to have preferences when purchasing an inexpensive suit, right?
Which color suit suits you?
I would advise against experimenting with colors when buying your first 3-piece suit. What I actually mean is that you should steer clear of bright colors or unusual patterns. That will only make your new 3-piece suit scrutinized and examined more closely by onlookers.
Did you know that dark colors can hide any production flaws? Handy if you want to buy a cheap suit. Additionally, a suit in a simple color is much easier to match than a suit you can only wear once a year. So, stick to classic colors when buying a 3-piece suit. Think of colors like dark blue, dark gray, or even dark red. These standard colors look good on every man. If you're considering a fourth color option, keep dark brown in mind.
Canvas of an inexpensive suit
Did you know that with tailored suits, the canvas is hand-stitched, allowing the jacket to mold to your body? This method optimizes the fit of the jacket. In cheaper 3-piece suits, the same canvas is often glued, resulting in the jacket not conforming to your body. Did you also know that the glue can come loose when it comes into contact with water?
It's worth investing in a jacket that is at least half stitched and half glued. This creates a better fit in certain areas. So, buying a cheap suit is fine, but these are the things you should pay attention to. How do you check this, actually? Simple: by feeling with your fingertips between the two buttons of the jacket to see if there is still a layer of fabric between the materials. If it's not there, you better put the jacket back on the rack.
At The Garrison, all our suits are stitched, and nothing is glued. With us, you always get a beautiful men's suit at a good price.
Fit: Slim Fit or Regular Fit
Fit is everything when buying a 3-piece suit, whether it's cheap or more expensive—it doesn't matter. If a custom-made suit is indeed above your budget, have a tailor make certain adjustments, such as shortening the pants or slightly taking in the jacket. This way, your jacket fits a little tighter around your body and follows your body's contours better. A tailor should not make many more adjustments than this.
You choose the right fit in the store. A slim fit or a straight fit can already make a huge difference in the fit. A smart move is to wear a shirt under the jacket when buying a 3-piece suit. This way, you'll not only know if the suit matches your shirt, but you'll also feel if it's comfortable.
Some things to watch out for include:
- The sleeve seams should sit against your arms
- The collar should lightly touch your neck
- Shoulders should lay flat
In principle, anything can be adjusted by your tailor, but always make sure that there are no major adjustments needed. So, when buying a cheap or more expensive 3-piece suit, make sure that the fit is 80% good.
Dressing up an inexpensive suit with accessories
If your budget is indeed limited, you can get by with an inexpensive suit. But did you know that by investing in the details, a suit can have a much more luxurious look?
So, take a look at a nice tie, for example. You can already get a nice tie for around 70 Euros. Switch it up with a colored pocket square to easily elevate your cheap 3-piece suit to another level. It's the little things that complete an outfit, after all.
No inspiration? Maybe the 1920s style is right for you!
That's why it's also advisable to spend a bit more on a good shirt. This way, you'll always look great, and no one will know that this time, you went for a budget 3-piece suit.
