1. The trousers are too long or too short
Trousers that are too long or too short are no problem at all. This is one of the easiest interventions for a tailor. Almost everyone who buys a suit has to deal with this at some point. If you want the trousers to fit perfectly, they should rest just on the edge of the shoe. (Without a harmonica effect). When you stand up straight, the socks should just barely be visible. If the trousers are too long, a tailor can easily shorten them. But even if the trousers are too short, he can lengthen them. The legs of the trousers are turned inwards a few cm. Which leaves extra room for a tailor to lengthen the trousers.
However, recently you do see several styles of how trousers are worn. The above description is the traditional length. But you can also choose to wear it Cropped. This means that it is worn shorter, leaving the ankles visible. This often happens when you want to wear the suit a bit more casual.
Solution when the length is not right: Have it lengthened or shortened by a tailor.
2. Jacket sleeves too long or too short
The above explanation for trousers also applies to jackets. Here, too, there is extra fabric inside, so a tailor can loosen the seams and then lengthen the sleeve.
Solution if the length is not right: Have it lengthened or shortened by a tailor.
3. The waist is too wide or too narrow
This is also something that can be solved very well. It often happens that men are built wider in the upper part of the body. As a result, the trousers are just too wide and do not fit properly around the waist. But what can also happen is that the waist is wider than the upper body. So the waistcoat and jacket fit perfectly, but the trousers cannot be closed.
Is this the case with you? Don't panic! Here, too, the tailor is the solution. When making the trousers, this too has been taken into account. For example, extra fabric is folded inwards to make the waist wider if needed. But a tailor can also slightly tuck the waist in the back to narrow it. In addition, moving the button is sometimes an additional option to make the trousers fit.
Solution when the waist is too wide or too narrow: Have it taken in or out by a tailor.
4. Cardigan is too roomy
If your waistcoat is too loose, no problem! A tailor can make it narrower without any problems by loosening the seams at the side and removing some fabric here. He will then re-tighten the seams to fit you perfectly.
Too roomy waistcoat solution: have it altered by a tailor.
5. The waistcoat is too tight
